Yes! We offer research services to individuals and businesses. Research requests are handled by staff in the order in which they are received. A $30.00 minimum fee covers up to one hour of research, with additional time charged at the rate of $30.00 per hour. Document photocopies and historic photographs may be reproduced (copied or scanned) for an additional fee, and a Use Agreement may also be required. (Please note: commercial use is permitted with conditions at a higher rate.)
We also prepare property and custom research reports for specific inquiries when requested and when we have the appropriate materials.
Our archives are not open to the public. To review any materials from our collection, a research request is required, and will be processed in the order in which they are received, which can take several weeks. To initiate a research request, contact Birmingham Museum Director Leslie Pielack at 248-530-1682 during our business hours, Tuesday through Friday, 9 to 4, or email lpielack@bhamgov.org.
