On Monday, September 10, 2018, Mayor Andrew Harris welcomed two visitors from our sister city in Ritto, Japan as part of the City's participation in a cultural exchange program organized by the state of Michigan.
Our sister city guests toured City Hall, the Baldwin Public Library, the police department, fire department and the department of public services. They also presented Mayor Harris with a number of gifts celebrating Ritto's culture and history. Meanwhile, Mayor Harris presented a number of gifts to our Ritto guests. Among them was a decorative blanket featuring City landmarks. The mayor also recognized the mayor of Ritto and recorded a congratulatory message to the Ritto International Friendship Association (RIFA) on its 20th anniversary.
The City thanks the citizens who stepped forward and hosted our guests from Ritto. The City values its friendship with the people of Ritto and looks forward to creating new memories for our citizens and guests through its involvement in the sister city exchange program.
